Barceloneta
Good for the market, old tapas bars and paella a street back from the sand.
Barceloneta is the old fishermen's quarter turned seafront, and the best food is a street or two back from the sand. La Cova Fumada is the old winery known for the bomba, Cervecería Vaso de Oro serves draught beer and tapas at a standing bar, and Can Solé and Can Majó are the paella tables. The Mercat de la Barceloneta handles lunch. Weekend afternoons in summer are the worst time to arrive hungry.
