El Raval

Good for old bars, the Boqueria and Gaudí's early mansion.

El Raval is the working-class old town and still the least polished part of the centre. Bar Marsella pours absinthe where generations of writers drank it, Granja M. Viader has served hot chocolate since 1870, and Palau Güell is Gaudí's early mansion. At the Boqueria, eat at a counter such as El Quim de la Boqueria, not off the fruit cups by the entrance.
