Gion
Good for kaiseki dinners, tempura counters and grilled eel in the geisha district.
Gion is where Kyoto goes for dinner, and it holds more restaurants in the data than any other area. Gion Maruyama, Gion Nanba and Kodaiji Wakuden do kaiseki, Tempura Endo Yasaka and Gion Tempura Tensou handle tempura, and Gion Unagi Kawato and Doi Katsuman grill eel. Kenninji Temple and Yasaka-jinja Shrine sit at the edges, with Maruyama Park behind. The counters seat a handful of people, so book the serious ones before you fly.
Categories show up here once we hold at least 8 places for them. Thin pages help nobody.
