Chiado

Good for bookshops, a ruined convent and José Avillez's restaurants.

Chiado is where Lisbon shops and then eats well. Livraria Bertrand is Portugal's oldest bookshop, the Carmo Archaeological Museum is Gothic ruins open to the sky, and A Brasileira is the old café where the coffee is the point. José Avillez has Mini Bar, Pateo and Cantinho do Avillez here, and Belcanto does the tasting menu. Alma and Toca da Raposa cover cocktails. Book dinner before you arrive.
