Sol

Good for churros, cod fritters and the two squares everyone has heard of.

Sol is Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor, and you will walk through both whether you plan to or not. Eat off the squares. Casa Labra does the cod fritters, Bar La Campana does the calamari sandwich, and Chocolatería San Ginés and Churrería 1902 split the churros and hot chocolate. Museo del Jamón is the cheap ham counter. Paco Roncero and Doña Luz are the rooftop dinners if you want the skyline with it.
