Ribeira
Good for the riverfront, wine bars in narrow lanes and views from the miradouros above.
Ribeira is where Porto meets the Douro, and it has the densest eating in the city. Taberna dos Mercadores and Porto Á Noite do the seafood, Estômago and Cozinha das Flores do the inventive Portuguese cooking, and DOP runs a tasting menu for a bigger night. Prova, Arco das Verdades and ODE Porto Wine House are the small rooms for wine. Palácio da Bolsa and the cathedral are close, and the miradouros on Rua das Aldas and at Vitória look back down over the roofs. Go early or late, because the waterfront tables fill with tour groups at lunch.
