Termini and Esquilino
Good for a station food hall, two big basilicas and cheap dinners behind Termini.
Termini is where you arrive and Esquilino is where you can eat well for less. Mercato Centrale is the food hall at the station, Santa Maria Maggiore has the mosaics, and the Basilica of Saint Mary of the Angels and Palazzo Massimo make a museum morning. Trattoria Da Danilo, Nerone and Osteria Cavour are the dinners, Regoli Pasticceria the early pastry. Eat a few streets back, not on the station concourse.
